“We came on here as a duo and we’re going to stay here as a duo.” – Jonathan (singer)
Why does the crowd erupt?
Because they discover the tremendous joy of hope in this couple’s solidarity.
Solidarity means shared futures and shared fortunes.
The crowd erupts because in our hearts we long to discover, that by blending our hopes with other people, we actually become better than who we are as individuals. This unity creates a crescendo of perspective, enlightening us to see that so much more is possible in community than in selfishness.
The evil voice tries to suggest divorce and promises success, even stardom, but Jonathan courageously combats this seductive rhetoric. The crowd erupts because Jonathan forsakes this fortune. He embraces the uncertain future with Charlotte in hope that their friendship is the greatest fortune which they protect by singing together, The Prayer.
I pray you’ll be our eyes
And watch us where we go
And help us to be wise
In times when we don’t know
Let this be our prayer when we lose our way
Lead us to a place
Guide us with your grace
To a place where we’ll be safe
